Home Learning in Year 2

Reading is incredibly important!

Please make sure that you hear your child read for 5-10 minutes every day. In addition to this, read to them and ask them questions about what you have read.

Why do you think the character did that?

What do you think will happen next?

Who are the main characters?

Where is the story set?

What do you think the story is about?

Can you describe the character? Personality? Appearance?

Want to become a Reading Champion? Read 5 or more times to an adult at home and bring in your signed reading diary.

Your child will bring home spellings that they need to learn to read and spell. Please encourage your child to learn their spellings in different ways.Year 1 and 2 Common Exception words to read and spell.

Encourage your child to count forwards and backwards in steps of 2, 5 and 10 from any given number to 100.
