Year 2 are leading the way for the RHS Grow Social with the launch of their brand new Gardening Club! It all started this week as twelve enthusiastic Year 2 children learnt about some of the tools they will be using for gardening, how and why we compost, and keeping safe in the garden. They then passed round some different herbs that Mrs Robinson has been growing at home, before filling the new herb planter in the Year 2 outside area. The children had a race to fill the planter and although they were covered from top to toe with soil by the end of the session, they left with massive smiles on their faces. They also planted some of their own seeds, so look out for pictures in the next few weeks and see if you can work out what they are growing. Next week, the children are going to be planting out the pea seedlings (in the photo) and making their own watering can with recycled materials.
