We want to wish you all a very warm welcome to Alver Valley Schools

Choosing the right school for your child is a really important decision. Usually, at this time of year, we offer prospective families the opportunity to visit our school through an Open Morning so you can see first-hand what we at Alver Valley Schools can offer your child as they embark on their school learning journey. This year we need to do things differently to ensure that we keep everyone safe. So we’ve planned a range of ‘in person’ and ‘virtual’ options for you so that you can discover Alver Valley Schools.

Now updated due to our risk assessment November 2021

We are offering bookable stay and play sessions outside of the usual school day for families to come and explore the Early Years Classrooms and meet the Alver Valley Adventurers Year R Team.

Thursday 18th November 4.00-4.45pm

Thursday 25th November 4.00-4.45pm

Wednesday 8th December 4.00-4.45pm

Sessions will be limited to 15 families per session for your child and up to two adults. You will be able to explore the classrooms and outdoor space. The Alver Valley School Nursery will also be open if you would like to take a look inside and hear more about our nursery provision. Please contact the office by email or phone, 023 9258 1777, to book your visit.

We have filmed a short video which provides more information about joining Alver Valley Schools in Year R, which you can watch here.

We are able to offer virtual appointments via Zoom or telephone, where you will be able to meet Mrs Lockwood, our Early Years Leader and Head of Schools, to ask any questions you have about joining our school and to hear more about our approach. Contact the school to request a telephone or Zoom appointment.

Please be assured that we have a robust transition in place, so children will have plenty of opportunities to get to know our school before they start.

For the children who joined our school this year in September we put a creative virtual transition plan in place. As visits into school were not possible we hosted a virtual ‘songs and rhymes’ transition project which consisted of 5 songs and rhymes sessions for children to join in with at home. Children and parents joined us for these sessions virtually before starting school this year. The sessions gave children the chance to regularly see the Early Years team and become familiar with school before they started, as well as having some fun along the way. See the post here about Alver Valley Adventurers for more details and to see some of the sessions.

You can find further information on this website regarding our approach, curriculum, photos of the Year R environment, the induction program that was in place for this year, and our Starting School information video for parents. You can also read about our curriculum approach in our ‘hooks into books‘ article in the Spotlight on Alver Valley section of the website.

Applications for places in Year R at Alver Valley Schools in September 2022 can be made from 1st November 2021, and must be made by 15th January 2022 – any applications after this date are classed as late applications and are processed by Hampshire when on-time applications have been allocated. Online applications can be made here. Do contact our school office – by email or 023 9258 1777 – if you need any help with making an application.

Meanwhile, stay safe and we hope to see or hear from you soon.

In addition, please do follow us on social media for regular photos and information updates on the whole school: TwitterInstagram or Facebook.
