At Alver Valley Schools we use the following document in Nursery through to Reception to support progression in mark making and writing. We add children’s names to their most appropriate next step to be scaffolded. We move their name when they have embedded this skill and/or when another skill becomes the most pressing area of focus for scaffolding.

The document is based on Development Matters and EYFS 2021 and shows examples from Alver Valley Schools. This will be updated with new examples in 2022 and in light of exemplification of ELG when this is available.
